2.Grave worship

It’s forbidden to worship Graves,to believe that the dead saints can solve problems or grant relief out of distress. Also forbidden is the request, for their aids and assistance.

Allah said,”Your Lord has ordained that you should worship none but Him”(Al -Isra:23)
The same is applicable to the dead, the righteous, prophets or others, seeking their intercession or rescue from difficulties.

Allah said,” Or,who listens to the distressed when he calls on him,and who relieves his suffering, and makes you inheritors of the Earth.(Can there be another)Lord besides Allah? Little is that you heed!”(An Naml:62).

Some people invoke the names of some righteous scholars or saints as habits and customs in all their moods and whenever any dilemma , calamity or distress befalls them.

“Those whom you impose besides Allah are servants like you…”(Al Araaf: 194).

“They take their priests and their rabbis to be their Lords beside Allah and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary, yet they were commanded to worship but one God;there is no God but He.Praise and glory be to Him(far is he) from having the partners they associate (with Him) (At -Tawbah:31).

When Adi Ibn Hateem(RA) heard the Prophet Muhammad PBUH reciting the above verse ,he said ,”They were not worshipping them.He (the Prophet Muhammad PBUH)said:Of Course, but they took it to be legal, likewise they prohibited what Allah has made lawful ,that is how they worship them.”

Allah has earlier described the disbelievers that “They hold not forbidden that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger nor acknowledge the religion of truth.”(9:29)

Allah says,” See you that what things Allah has sent down to you for sustenance ?Yet you hold forbidden some things thereof and some things lawful”Say :Has Allah indeed permitted you or do you forge things to attribute to Allah.(Younus :59)

Grave worship is not at all allowed in Islam infact the main and prime pillar of Tawheed is to believe in Allah and to worship Him only .But at times people do go at the graves asking them for their help and aid which truly has no basis in Islam and is major Shirk.
Our Prophet Muhammad PBUH has allowed us to visit graveyard just so that we may remember our death and could rectify our deeds before we also are placed in the Graves, not that he allowed us to go and ask for their help and assistance.
All the activities which are practised there like circumambulating the grave,or prostrating to dead,or extending our hands out and making dua from them etc is not a part of Islamic culture.
Infact The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “May Allaah curse the Jews and the Christians, for they have taken the graves of their Prophets as places of worship.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 435; Muslim, 529).
So just imagine when the graves of the Prophet’s can’t be taken as place of worship what status does anyone else in this world has to be worshipped.

La illaha IllAllah Muhammadur Rasool Allah.
None is worthy of worship except Allah, and Prophet Muhammad PBUH is the messenger of Allah.
